Finance Committee
Trey Holloway and George Christo, Chairs
Activities
The Finance Committee constructed the congregation’s 2017 budget for presentation to the
Governance Council and ultimate presentation to the congregation. This included gathering inputs from
the various boards/committees and Westmoreland programs to understand our financial needs.
Additionally, the Finance Committee served in a consultative role for several finance related decisions
made by the Governance Council throughout the year and provided insight into budgetary impacts.
Building 2020 & Capital Campaign Committees
Gary Walbridge, 2017 Moderator
First, let us say, thank you! A big thanks to the 118 people and families who in the last year pledged to our
Capital Campaign to make Westmoreland more accessible and welcoming for years to come. From the long
-awaited elevator to a kitchen that actually cooks food, a gender-neutral bathroom, a safer drop-off and
handicapped parking, your generous investment will leave a lasting legacy for Westmoreland. As we
proceed with construction bids and look to break ground on Building 2020 this year, we’re excited for you
to see how your contributions will make a difference.
With the four-year Building 2020 Capital Campaign, we are
planning additional fundraising activities for 2017 and beyond.
We’ve recently launched a Challenge Fund that will double the
impact of new gifts and pledges that come in between now
and March 2017. A group of generous Westmorelanders who
had already made their own capital campaign pledges
approached the campaign to offer additional funds that will

match new or newly increased pledges. The Challenge Fund
has already successfully matched $25,000 in pledges. While originally targeting certain categories of
pledges, the Challenge Fund has now been expanded to match any and all new gifts or pledges. If you are
interested in taking part in the Challenge Fund -- by making a new or increased pledge that will be matched,
or by offering additional matching funds -- please email JoJo Shelton at johannaemily@gmail.com. Thanks
to the generosity of our community, if we take full advantage of the Challenge Fund, we can add up to
$200,000 more to the amounts already pledged.
This spring we are also planning to involve the youth and children to help design creative ways to
demonstrate their commitments to accessibility and welcoming all people to our church community.
We’re also in the early stages of planning a celebration upon completion of construction (think ribbon-
cutting elegant dinner). Please let us know if you would like to help plan that special moment for our
community.
This is a four year campaign, and we welcome your input. We’re eager to hear what ideas you have for
raising additional funds over the next couple years. Please email johannaemily@gmail.com with your ideas
for how the Capital Campaign can fully realize our Building 2020 goals to build a better, more accessible
church.
