Rev. Alexis Kassim, Associate Minister
As I wondered what I might add to this annual report, I remembered
a spiritual reflection activity we used last spring in church school,
called visio divina, or “sacred seeing.” It is divine gazing upon a series
of images with the eyes of the heart, a way to look for and
listen to God. This year has seen our children learn about Native
American culture and the UCC’s resolution to change name of the
Washington Football team during Peace Camp; our youth participate
in National Youth Event, the UCC’s quadrennial conference for young
Our Whole Lives class leading the Time for
people; and Westmorelanders of all ages work together to package Children in worship
over 10,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now!
This year my report has less to do with words and more to do with images. I
invite you to look at these photos, prayerfully and openly. My hope is that
when an image stirs your heart, you will stop and
dwell there for a moment. Look for signs of the
power and the presence of the Holy Spirit in our
midst as we sought to push our spiritual
boundaries, serve others, and love God and one
another this year.
