LET’S LIVE ON

It was until the year twenty-nineteen,
That everything was absolutely fine.
With our minds filled with cheer,

You and I began another new year. 2019
However, things didn’t happen so,

As you and I wanted them to go.
Who knew that we humans, of such big size
Would be ruled by a virus that can’t be seen in our eyes?

The nonstop hustle-bustle of the town 2020
Suddenly got stopped by a lockdown.

With an unknown future, dark as a starless night
We remembered the past when stars shone bright.

With masks and sanitizers in our hands
We got ready for the days, totally unplanned.
With school syllabi, office chore—all in our phones
You and I became caged inside our homes.

Vacant schools with no students to teach,
Empty roads without any place to reach,
Playgrounds with no one to play,
Did we ever expect to see this day?

However, with our hands held together

You and I have walked this long year.
Not knowing what’s going to happen next
Let us keep on giving all our best.

A time will come when our starless night,
Will be filled with stars, shining bright.
Until then let’s live on.
