Boulder Opal, Sapphire and Chrysoprase: An Enthusiast’s Guide to the Gemstones of Central
Queensland, Australia
This fascinating presentation will focus on the three precious gemstones found in Central Queensland, and will begin with an overview of each of the gemstones, the location of the deposits and a brief history of their presence in the global jewellery market. The presentation will incorporate a workshop session examining some of the various forms of each gem from the rough material specimens to the finished gemstones. The program will also include an interactive discussion on marketing and selling techniques for each of the gemstones, primarily focusing on
the various ranges of quality and issues that relate to provenance (ethical mining, gem location, environmental rehabilitation of mine-sites).
