Nutrition and hydration standards in schools
According to the latest updates from the National Diet and Nutrition Survey many children fall short of dietary recommendations. Less than one in ten 11-18 year olds meet the 5-a-day recommendation and children’s sugar intake remains at more than double the recommendation. This session will provide
an overview of the School Food Standards and discuss the importance of maintaining school food standards across the whole school day. Speakers will also examine the challenges in educating and encouraging children to make healthy food choices and how programmes beyond school lunch can help install a positive food culture in school settings.
