Institutional Issues
The Service of Judicial Facilitators began in the late nineties in order to help the local ju-
dges in isolated communities. It was then implemented in small villages and quarters in
rural and urban areas when it became clear that the methodology was efficient and the
people learned that the judicial facilitator was a bridge between the community and the
Judicial Power.
With the support of the Organization of American States (OAS), the program has been
developed in several Latin-American countries since 2007. Now, the Program is suppor-
ted by various resolutions of the highest political body of the institution, its General As-
sembly.
