The Service of Judicial Facilitators began
in the late nineties in order to aid the lo-
cal judges in isolated communities. It was
then implemented in small villages and
quarters in rural and urban areas when it
became clear that the methodology was
efficient and the people learned that the
judicial facilitator was a bridge between
the community and the Judicial Power.
With the support of the Organization of PaĆs Incorporación
American States (OAS), the program has 2002
been developed in several latinamerican 2007
countries since 2007. 2008
In present time, there are over twelve thousand facili- 2010
tators in eight countries of the region: the province of 2011
Corrientes, Argentina; Costa Rica; El Salvador; Guate-
mala; Honduras; Nicaragua; Panama; and Paraguay. 2012
