2. ACTIVITY 1: WHAT FEATURES DO YOU WANT IN YOUR DREAM
CITY?
Here are some features of a city. Do you have one in your hometown? How often do
you go to these places? What do people do in these places?
a. City hall k. Swimming pool
b. City square l. Traditional market
c. Stadium m. River
d. Hospital n. Rice field
e. University o. Factory
f. Mall p. Post office
g. Bookstore q. Train station
h. Park r. Airport
i. Amusement park s. Taxi
j. Gym t. Cinema
Now, let’s play a game. Here is the procedure.
a. The teacher will choose four students or four pairs of students to become city
mayors.
b. Each mayor will receive a sheet of paper containing the city features of the city they
lead. The sheet for the mayor will be provided by the teacher (attached in the
teacher’s guideline).Each city has different features from the others. The mayors
should give a name to their cities.
c. The rest of students are citizens with no city. They are in their journey to find their
dream city.
d. Those students (citizens with no city) will fill in a questionnaire below. The
questionnaire states some city features. Students must tick the features that they
want in their dream cities.
e. Citizens with no city must interview each mayor. They need to find out which city
possesses most features of their dream city. After they find out, they will be the
citizens of the city.
f. Mayor with the most citizens win.
g. After the game is over, you might have a discussion with your friends. Why do you
want such features? What makes you choose the city? etc.
