a. The Review and Analysis of the Outcome

The researcher(s) reviewing the problem being investigated. It may be
followed with using the information in the result to show the major finding and

               describe it.
               b. The Influencing Factors

The discussion may also include some factors that affect the outcome of

               the instrument.
               c. The Claim about the Hypothesis

The researcher(s) may support or reject the hypothesis of the research.

               d. The Claim about the Previous study
It is also common for the researcher(s) to use the obtained data to support

               or reject the previous study.
               e. The Claim about the Current Result

The discussion may point out and emphasize what is new about his

               research.

Below is an example of a discussion of a journal article written by
Herrmann (2013) which has been adapted.

               The Title:
The Impact of Cooperative Learning on Student Engagement: Results
               from an Intervention
               The Discussion:
                                       Part of the Discussion Element
When cooperative learning was introduced in tutorials, The Review

students increased their in-class participation, whereas no change and
in the students’ approaches to learning could be measured. Analysis

From a constructivist perspective of learning, dialogue and The Claim
argument are valuable learning opportunities (Biggs and Tang, about the

2011; Pritchard and Woollard, 2010), and from this perspective, Hypothesis
the treatment was partly successful. However, results also indicate

that changing the instructional method is in itself not enough to
encourage a surface approach and promote a deep approach to

                 learning.
