1.  Preheat the oven to 170 ̊C (338°F).

               2.  Combine all the ingredients, except the butter in a large mixing bowl.
               3.  Season with salt and pepper and mix well to combine.
               4.  Lightly grease the ovenproof dish with butter and add the butternut mixture.
               5.  Place into the oven for about 45 minutes or until the butternut is cooked through, the
                   sauce is bubbling and the surface has gratinated or become golden brown.
               6.  Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
