PRINTMAKING
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
On completion of this Expressive Form, students should develop the ability to produce an edition of
prints based on a given topic or theme.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
Students should be able to:
1. create drawing relevant to printmaking;
2. analyse the cultural, economic and expressive roles of printmaking;
3. apply the elements and principles of design in the printed images;
4. translate a given topic or theme into a pictorial image;
5. apply appropriate health and safety procedures;
6. apply different methods of transfer of image to plate, blocks, silkscreen;
7. use a variety of materials and techniques to make plates, blocks and resins;
8. combine materials and techniques in creative ways;
9. use a variety of materials and surfaces in printmaking processes;
10. demonstrate understanding of edition printing;
11. evaluate traditional and contemporary designs and processes used in the Caribbean and other
cultures; and,
12. critique their own work and that of other established Caribbean and International artists.
CONTENT
1. Create Drawings:
(a) Sketches;
(b) Illustrations; and,
(c) Experimental.
