If Only I Would Have Listened

Carefully she put my toe in the cup and then

wrapped the towel around my foot. She told me
not to move and called my parents. When they

arrived, we drove at what felt like 100 miles per

hour to the hospital. My mom pulled up to the

emergency room and slammed on the brakes.

My dad carried me into the waiting room.

While my dad filled out the paperwork, the nurse

took my mom and me into a dark cold room.

She turned on the bright lights and laid me on the

          hard bed.

I was there for what felt like forever before the

          door opened.

Finally, the doctor came in and asked me what
had happened. Then he said, “Ok, I need to talk to

your parents and then we’ll fix you right up.

”The doctor told them that he would have to sew

up my foot. I looked at my parents and started to

          cry.
