Anansine’s Funeral
The animals in the trees leaped from branch to
branch making the trees dance as well. Anansine’s
husband started to ‘wile up’ himself like he was not
grieving. Even Mr Cockroach was there, although
he was nearly trampled several times. Suddenly, the
tune changed to, ‘One by One, Two by Two, Three
by Three.’ When Arman heard the tune he said,
“Woeeeeeee! Vincy funeral sweet ohhhhhh!!”
Arman seemed to be losing his mind; he put one
foot on his head and started ‘catching the spirit’.
The procession lasted for another hour and all the
creatures were soaked from top to bottom when
they got to the cemetery. They sang some songs
and prayed, then they started burying Anansine
while they sang ‘Crown her with Roses.’ When the
grave was completely covered, the creatures took
turns to place their flowers and candles as the
other animals hummed a tune.
After the funeral, they went to eat but Arman was
so tired that he couldn’t eat any of the food.
