Anansine’s Funeral
At the end of the nine night, Anansine’s family
prepared for her funeral.
A few days later, as everyone gathered at the
Mount Forest Baptist Church, the pallbearers
brought Anansine's body in a cornflakes box.
Everyone sat silently crying and sniffling.
Hundreds had come from far and near to pay their
last respects. Anansine’s Rastafarian brethren and
sistren sailed in on canoes from Jamaica.
A Baptist group of songbirds from Trinidad and
Tobago was also present.
Mother Donkey ‘wuk up she bam-bam’ and shook
the bell with her tail and somehow in all the chaos,
Anansine’s coffin broke open and she fell out.
