Anansine’s Funeral
All the animals in the forest came out in search of
the source of the sound. It was then that they
realized that poor Anansine was in the hospital
for the eighth time. Whispers passed through the
crowd of animals. One gossipy spider whispered,
“She again? She nah weary?” and another animal
whispered, “Hope she done now.”
In the hospital, Anansine was at death’s door.
When she was admitted, she found out she had
Spidervid-19. She was going in and out of
consciousness; her heart was racing and she was
puffing for air. Anansine’s lungs were about to
fail. Everyone rushed up to the hospital to tell
Anansine goodbye, but unfortunately, some
animals could not climb. They tried their best to
go up into the tree but no matter how they tried,
they failed. When the others got up, they did not
even get a chance to say goodbye to Anansine.
They saw that Anansine lay lifeless on the nest,
but the eggs all lay beside her.
