The Wrong Funeral
“I’ve known Roberta all me life. She were ah
good frien’ an even betta individual. She were
always dere to len ah helpin’ han’. She was
cordial, gifted and cheerful. She will never be
forgotten. God bless her and may she soul res’ in
peace.”
Everyone stared at her as if she was crazy but she
did not even notice, since she was so forlorn.
She shuffled briskly back to her seat.
“Thank you”, the priest said, “let me open the
coffin one final time before the procession”.
Mrs Carton made up her mind to at least glance
at her friend one last time.
She wormed her way up the aisle to look at the
corpse’s face. Low and behold it was not
Roberta!
