               DELETIONS


                     Syll. 2017 pg. 135: Assessment Details – Award of Marks: Drawing is not included
                       on the list of skills to be assessed through laboratory practical activities (it is included
                       on Table 1 of the same page)



               MODIFIFICATIONS

                     Syll. 2007: CAPE Associate Degree awarded for a cluster of seven CAPE Units
                       including Caribbean Studies and Communication Studies.


                        Syll. 2017: CXC Associate Degree for cluster of eight CAPE Units including
                       Caribbean    Studies, Communication Studies and Integrated Mathematics.

                     Syll. 2017: Rationale is redesigned with a greater emphasis on the application of
                       scientific concepts and principles. Also based on the UNESCO Pillars of Learning
                       and the ideal Caribbean Person, adopted by the CARICOM Heads of Government
                          th
                       (18  Summit).
                     New syllabus aims of “assist in the development of critical thinking, analytical and
                       practical skills” and “promote the integration of Information Communication and
                       Technology (ICT) tools and skills.
                     For Experimental Skill of Drawing, the term “illustration” is now used since a
                       drawing is used to illustrate a three dimensional representation of a specimen whereas
                       a diagram illustrates the surface view of a section cut through the specimen.
                      Syll. 2007, Unit 1 Module 1, 4.4: Nicotine and insecticides are used as examples of
                       enzyme inhibitors.

                        Syll. 2017, Unit 1 Module 1, 4.4: Antabuse and organophosphates are used as
                       examples of enzyme inhibitors.


                     Unit 1, Module 2, Genetics, Variation and Natural Selection: the sub- headings of
                       “Mitotic and meiotic cell division” and “Variation and Natural Selection” (2007) were
                       changed to “Structure and roles of nucleic acids”, “ Cell division and variation” and
                       Natural Selection (2017).

                       Also some specific objectives were shifted under different sub- headings for a more
                       logical flow.

                       Also some objectives were shifted around of in Unit 2, Module 3. For example sub-
                       heading “Health and Disease” objective 1.3 (2007) was shifted to “Social and
                       Preventative Medicine” objective 3.6 (2017). This was also done for a more logical
                       flow.
