26. Additionally, in keeping with the Council’s Policy to integrate selected units within the regional
qualification of the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ), the Panel also aligned the School-Based
Assessment component of the Syllabus with the applicable Units of Competence from Musical
Performance – Level 1, (CCECE10109). The Committee focused on aligning CVQ content, skills and
Performance Criteria with the content, skills and Specific Objectives of the Syllabus. The instructions
for Certification in the Syllabus were re-written to include the following:
The School-Based Assessment component for this syllabus is aligned to selected units within
the regional qualification of the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ). Through this
integration, once all requirements for issuing the CVQ are met, every student with acceptable
grades will receive a Statement of Competence to recognise their competencies in selected
units (as detailed in Appendix 1) from the Level 1 Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) in
Musical Performance – Level 1 (CCECE10109). The decisions to award competencies will be
based on the quality and relevance of the pieces of evidence presented for the occupational
area. (See Appendix III for further details).

27. SUBSEC is asked to receive for approval the final draft of the CESC® Music Syllabus and
specimen examination paper as presented at Appendix III effective for teaching from September 2018
and for examinations in May–June 2020.
