Early the next morning, Jack was woken up by

loud horns and the voices of men who worked at
the Agriculture Department sent to help the zoo

find Jack. Jack tried to hide, but was not quick

enough.

When Jack saw that they had seen him, he began
to run very fast, but they soon caught up with

him. One of the workers slipped a thick rope

around Jack’s neck, trapping him. Distressed, Jack

cried out, ‘’Hee haw! Hee Haw! Hee haw!

Hee haw!”
