Dream Paws

Unfortunately, that never happened, so you could

imagine how horrible my birthdays were. I really
wanted a dog. A dog was my ultimate dream.

I will never forget the day I got my dog. I replay

that moment over and over again in my head.

It was an ordinary day and I was in my room

playing my favorite video game ‘Mario’, when my
mom sneaked into my room and just stood at the

doorway staring at me with beaming eyes and a

large smile as if she had won the Caribbean lotto.

I paused the game and stared at her

questioningly. That’s when she said the words I
was dying to hear, “You-can-have-a-dog.”

For a moment I was numb. I stared into space and

then suddenly burst into tears. She hugged me

and she even cried too. She told me that I had

done very well in school and that she was proud
of my behaviour both at home and school.

She also said that I had grown into a very

responsible young lady and would do well

nurturing a dog.
