MAHOMET AND ISLAM
An adapted and abridged version of Thomas Carlyle's essay by
D. Clifford Holland. Before the reading he will give a short
background sketch on Calyle.
Dr. Clifford Holland, Professor Emeritus, has an Anglo­
American-Canadian baclground. He has an Associate in Arts
degree from N‫ﺔ‬U in New Yorl, a B.A. Hons, and M.A. in
Hestory fron Yok Uiversity in Toronto and Ph.D. from the
University of Toronto in the History and Philosophy of
Education. He undertook post graduate study at Eeter
College oxford. He has specialized in interdisciplinary
victorian Stuises, Social, Intellectual History and Education.
He has taught at George Brown College and the University of
Toronto, and has been a visiting scholar at Memorial
University in New foundland before his retirement, He has
lectured and published extensively; his last work being a
biography of the Canadian Victorian critic William Dawson
Lesueur.
