Although Westminster Abbey was offered for his buriel, by
his own wish he was buried in Scotland besides his parents.
Because of the length of Carlyle's essay you will appreciate
that I have only been able to touch briefly on his estimation of
the Prophet in my abridged and adapted reading, for as in all
lectures we have constraints upon our time.
The lecure was first given in London on Frida,y May 8, 1840.
It was first puylished as an essay in the Heroi in Histoyr
(1841).
