Ab arranged at the abortive mooting on May 0 Uic Kulor today
rcoeivod four members of the National Union Commfitea. In. talks
lasting two hours general agreement wuu reached on the composition
of the hulf-olcoted, half-nominated Departmental Councils for
Education und 1’ubllo Health on a basis that no members of the
Ruling fuinily will bo appointed and that the Committees will
elect their own chairmen (Kulor had previously wished to appoint
u member of his fuinily us chainnun of euch Committee). The
Committee representatives expressed objection to the Administrative
Council, mainly on the grounds that it contained no elected
members, but further discussion on this was remitted to another
meeting which it was agreed should tulcc place on May 20. The
Ruler agreed to repluoe the present press censorship by a new
press regulation which the Bui train government have had reudy
in draft for some time.
2. ‘file Committee members expressed some objection at tho
beginning ol the meeting to the presence of adviser^, although one
of them explained that they were obliged to raise a formal
objection «r>n tills point in order to satisfy their supporters.
jJelgruvc was, in fact, present throughout the meeting.
3. The Ruler apparently received the Committee members in a
relatively friendly fashion. Other members of his family were
present und made useful contributions to the disoussion.
