I have tho honour to ref or to telegram Ho* 1176-3,
dated the 2l8t September 1926, from tho Oovarnment of India
in the Foreign and Politioal Department in reply to my
recommendation that the 8hail£h of Bahrain may be allowed
to engage an Englishman ao Finanoial Advluor and that the
seloatlon of Ur. 0. I). Belgrave be approved for the poet.
2. At present Shaikh Hamad and the Municipality Of
Man amah (the chief town of Bahrain) lean very mu oh on the
Politioal Agent for guidance and aeelotanoo in various
questions, which strictly Bpeaklng aro Internal matters
though they also offeot tho oomfort of the foreign populat
ion residing in Bahrain. In consequence. Major Daly,
in spite of his Intimate knowledgo of tho Arabio language
and of looal affairs, is very much over-worked, •2 do
not expsot that any Politioal Agent suoooodlng him will be
able to do as much for the State as he has done.
3. The Oovornmont of India are now, 1 believe, un-
•willing to give the Politioal Agent a gasetted Assistant
and from their tolegram No. 142-H, dated the 1st Ootober
1986,
