           CUARJiTINE.

Total cost of contraction - Rs 9000/-
After long end difficult negociafcions tlie Baluchi
hangers on of the Kholifoh fanily who were previously living

at (Jalat-Aby-Mc.hir, the site of the new quarantine camp,
were persuaded to move. Although they had no rights to the
ground they were given a very valuable piece of land along the
sea shore north of Muhorrak and each man was handsomely com

pensated with cash for the expenses of moving their huts*
Their removal would not have been so expensive or troublesome

if Sheikh Mohomed bin Isa had not taken such an active rart
in claiming for them money and ground.
After they moved the site was cleared and new buildings
were erected; one large stone bungalow for the second class

passengers, containing four rooms each with bath room attached
opening into a wide veranda, and a long stone building divided
into three compartments for deck passengers, Adjacent to

the buildings there are men3 and womens latrines, cook houses
and bath rooms, Water is obtained from the artesian well wh
which was built near the fort sane years ago.
The tower of the old Fort has been repaired and made

accessible, not because it is in any way needed but because
it wrs felt that this conspicuous tower, the only one remain
ing in a place of considerable historical interest should not

           be allowed to fall down.
A rough stone pier has been built reaching into deep water
and the whole camp is surrounded by a strong barbed wire fence

with a gafca at the neck of the narrow causeway which joins
the promentory to the town of J'uharrak, and another one on the.
           pier.
The work was carried out by the government under the super

           vision of Mr, llohomed Khalil.
Both the site and the buildings are in every way superior
