•Teeter number of consumers 7/on Id have been obtained though

actually the present number oi' tens and limits resembles very
closely the numbers estimated when the scheme was originally
                      discussed almost three years ago.

The necessity Tor economy has also restricted the output
to seme extent as there hss been a complete cessation oi* those
social activities which are usually a feature of the Arab life
in Bahrain and which call for extra expenditure on electricity.

It was never supposed that t.ie scheme would be a paying
preposition during the first year though in the last years

Judget the revenue and expenditure for the electric scheme
were assessed at e^ual amounts, the allocation for expendi
ture hov/ever was considerably greater than the actual amount
                      was expected to be.

The whole position can be clearly ascertained from the
accompanying returns which form part of this report.
The position is briefly as follows

                         Total Revenue 1349 — Hs 20,749/l4/-
                                Expenditure — 25,917/10/6
                         Loss, including depreciation - h 26,986/9/3.

h scheme for assisting intending consumers by means of a
payment by instalments system which was arranged by the Iitnamu
..unicipality though offering very fair terms, produced practi
                      cally no result whatever.

The demand for current in the residential part of the town
ass been fairly satisfactory with the exception of the ^unni
Persians who have clnost ell declined to tske any, but the

ienend in the bazaar has been very disappointing, The demand
for power is small but with the transfer of the Ilinicipal ice
