          of this number, it is unfortunate to report that 232

          have been declared for "ICaammos11 and the collection of the
          licenses thereon lias been deferred owing to their owners1
          lack of funds.

             hot able visitors. During the year 1349 Bahrain was

          visited twice by the I.on’ole the Political Resident in
          the Persian Gulf, also by fi. S. Commander in Chief
          Admiral Fullerton,       Admiral Deville of the French Navy

          visited Bahrain in the French Naval sloop "Diana" in
          December 1930.      jo.t the end of 1349, the four naval sloops

          fi.M.S. "lEriad" , "fitstings" , "Penzance" and "Folkestone"
          visited Bahrain and stayed for four days,           During the
          visit of the sloops the Senior Naval Officer made arrange­

          ments for the visit of certain merchants and others to

          the sloops which was very much appreciated by them.

             Artesian wells. Diring 1349 8 artesian wells were                               j

          sunk in Bahrain besides the one bored by the Government

          at Aali for purposes of agricultural experiments.

             Sea Road. The construction of the Nanamah-IIuharrak
          sea road is in progress,        ivlain work during the year was
          construction of the southern wall and dumping of fishty

          on the northern side to enable putting in the poles for
          conveying electricity to ilaharaq*
