The First Days of British Aden 197

Thinking it would be better to sail in the morning than in
the evening, went onboard the Coote where I dined, then to
the Kite where I wrote letters for England and left them
onboard the Coote for Captain H. to forward.
9 Left Aden with some regret, not having met with any society
since quitting the Cape. Sailed for Berbera at 8.
         London 27 May 1840
To the British Museum, where I spent some hours. Saw the
tombstones there which I sent home from Aden presented by
                N. and C. 2 9
