will take tliia island, and with regard to this Pirate Manna who is a Pirate
fled from our Kingdom and got possession of the island of Currack, if it
possible you will bring him, or if be should be killed in the war, either his
head or some fign of him you will bring. On this account we of our Greatness
promise that after the English have rendered us this service, and have taken
Carraok, that you have brought hither Manna, or some sign of him or at least
you have broke his force the sum of 15,000 Tomaunds Tabriz Paige Em, wo
hereby oblige ourselves, and promise to get from Shailc Soliraan and pay you for
the damage and loss you received from Shaik Soliman ;—we also promiso the
half of all the Merchandize and Goods of Manna to the English Company, which
with the whole of the Guns and appurtenances of War belonging thereto, all
warlike stores, also the boats and Ganivats wo give to them ; we promiso and
make over the Island of Carrack to the English Company for their Dofonoo
against their enemies, to live there, and follow whatever business they please
with full liberty—and we do heroby graut the entire possession and
Dominion of this island to the English Company for over, that they may stay
there and act asfcit 6oemoth best unto them.
We also promise if from this time forward either by sea or land Sheik
Soliman shall take or molest any Boats or vessels or in any shape molest any
persons belonging to the English, wo horeby oblige ourselves to give full
satisfaction for the same, and make good the whole of the loss occasioned by
him.
As long as your war shall subsist with Manna we are obliged and will
send all manner of provisions for your forces.
It is necessary that Mr George Skipp for his security shall keep this
Phiimaund by him, that after the service which he has promised is completed
he may show the same, and demand every thing agreeable to what is wrote
therein.

Gentlemen,
Failure of the Since the last we had the Honour to address you, a Council of war was
attack oo Karrak. called the 19c instant oomposed of the Commanders and the eldest Lieutenants
of each Corps, in which it was resolved to attack the placo next day in the
morning to ruin the defences, and make a breach in the North Curtain of the
fort which breach as soon as practicable, should (if then thought adviseablo) be
stormed; accordingly yesterday the wind being N. W. the signal was made at one
for preparing for action. At J past 2 p. m. we got within point blank shot of
the Fort the wind shifted all at once from N. W. to S. W. E. 8., which occasioned
us to anchor at a much greater distance than we at first intended, our intentions
being to run olose to the Fort, however we continued to cannonade, and
Bombard the Fort for near 3 hours, but witli little success—At J past 4, the
Grab cut and run out, she being on fire on the starboard quarter, at the same
time, the wind enoreasing, and likely to stand in that quarter, and if not being
