In conjunction with the Bahrain Petroleum Company, which has always interested itself in
the progress of the school, an arrangement was made for a group of young men, employees of the
company to do a four months’course at the school during 1369. This special class was given lessons
in English, Arithmetic, Machine and Geometrical Drawing, Tool Handling and Workshop Practice.
The experiment proved to be satisfactory in spite of some of the pupils having no previous school
background. At the end of this course 13 pupils out of 16 passed the final examination. As in the
previous year Fourth Year students did workshop practice at Awali on four days every week during
                  the term.
The only change in staff was the appointment of a regular teacher of Arabic and Arithmetic in
place of the one whose services were lent from the staff of the non-technical schools.
Some new equipment was added to the workshop during the year. This included a Universal
woodworker, a 6* bench lathe, a grinding and polishing machine, an electric hand drill and a blowing
fan for the foundry. A supply of mild steel bars and other material was received from England during
                  the year.
Metal work and furniture made by the students was exhibited at the Gozaibia Palace at the same
time as the exhibition of work done in the Government Girls’ Schools. All the furniture which was
shown was sold, the amount realised being Rs. 4,690.
Boys from the school visited the Bahrain Petroleum Company’s workshops, the Government
Garage, Machine Shops arid Power House. They took an active part in inter-school sports of every
description and the school team won the cup which was presented by His Highness Shaikh Sulman for
                  swimming.

The health of the students was satisfactory and their attendance at school was good. A some
what high proportion of the boys, though of Bahrain nationality, are not of Bahrain origin.
The Bahrain Petroleum Company continued to provide scholarships for Technical School
students. This scholarship enables the holder to live as a boarder at the Education Hostel.
