Shaikh Ilnmad Bridge.—Road traffic control lights were installed at each end of the Bridge
and normal operation and maintenance work has continued throughout the year.

Workshops Department.—This Department continued to carry out new \york and repairs
for all Government Departments and many private jobs were undertaken for local firms. Work
carried out for Government Departments produced a revenue of Rs. 20,600 while private jobs
produced Rs. 20,000.
Transport Department.—General repair and maintenance of Government vehicles has
again been very difficult this year due to the lack of up-to-date facilities and skilled staff. A start has
been made however to reorganise this Department and a European has been engaged as Transport
Superintendent to commence duty early next year.
The Public Works Department commenced the erection of a new Transport Garage and modern
equipment is being installed. The total number of vehicles in service at the year-end was 8r.
