                                                   Observatory.

                          The recorded observations are summarised in tables, Appendix A.
                          The summer of 1881 was on the whole favourable. The “ Barit* *
                      monsoon (Burra ShemaC) set in in the end of May, and blew with occa­
                      sional intermissions for six weeks.                        /
                          The autumn, wiuter, and spring rains, though perhaps below the aver­
                      age in quantity, were seasonable for cultivation.
