                    within a diamond shape composed of 13 bars running north west -
                    south cast (Type 1).

                            This was probably used in conjunction with the Type 2 date-
                    stamp, but no cover has yet been recorded.

                            The ‘309’ cancellation also exists within a diamond of 16 bars
                    (Type 1 A) and may be seen apparently within 17 bars as the result of
                    wear. It was invariably struck in black, although the Type 2 date-
                     stamp appears in 1870—72 in red and not in black until 1873. In
                     1871 the ‘T’ had a serif at the base but, by 1873, it had broken off.













                       The Muscat Wax Seal           Type 3
                            At some time, probably before 1870, the Muscat Post Office
                    Wax Seal was used (in black) instead of the Type 2 date-stamp, in con­
                    junction with Type 1 cancelling the stamps (in red). Two pieces are
                    known, one with a single and the other with two copies of the Via blue.

                            In April 1869 the Muscat Post Office was transferred to the
                    administration of the Sind Circle and was supplied with another
                    numeral cancellation — “23" boxed within a circle (Type 3) which was
