Handgun Threats
THREAT: The assailant presents the handgun, touching the weapon to your
lower back. Note that the weapon could be held higher on the back or at the back
of the head.
DANGER: You may be shot or taken to another location, where further crimes
will be committed.
SOLUTION: The line of fire is to your centerline or towards your right, which
dictates redirecting the line of fire in that direction. Remember, you must look to
insure the “off hand” is not actually the weapon hand.
1. Keeping your feet in place and leading with your left arm, turn to face the
assailant, redirecting the line of fire by moving the weapon with your arm and
blading your body. Reaching your left hand deep under the assailant’s arm, burst
towards the assailant. Your left foot should be outside of the assailant’s right
foot.
