MANAGING CHANGE
A warrior must face the reality of the battle in order to know when to charge, regroup or
retreat.
The wise warrior knows that managing change is more effective, and has greater chance
of success, when done with the support of others.
A warrior knows that those within the tribe who are looked upon as leaders and champi-
ons can be critical to his success during times of change.
A great warrior must take charge during the transition of change; he must provide cour-
age, desire, strength and direction if others cannot.
A wise warrior takes control by diplomacy, setting an example and soliciting the in-
volvement of others whenever possible.
A warrior must know how to adjust in battle or die.
The experienced warrior knows that a confused, fragmented, angry, and demoralized
tribe requires action that will inspire confidence; it is at this time one must demonstrate lead-
ership and direction.
A great warrior will empower himself when the chief falls in battle.
A warrior knows that in the heat of battle it is not the time to ask for opinions; it is a
time for action based on the situation at hand.
The wise warrior knows that change can frighten and create disorder, he also knows that
communication is key to re-establishing clarity, purpose and direction for the tribe.
A great warrior understands that managing change can be like the wind, gentle or de-
structive.
A wise warrior should investigate all alternatives before committing to action, but once
committed will give ample time for the action taken to work.
It must be understood that those who refuse to adjust may perish during times of
change.
A wise chief knows he must constantly review and evaluate conditions during times of
change or he may end up on the wrong path.
