People Wall, IBM exhibit, 1964-65 New York World’s Fair (1964) Dizzy kids. World’s Fair. (1964)
It is no exaggeration to say that my world began at the New York World’s Fair.
640 acres. 78 countries represented. 24 American states. 140 pavilions. 110
restaurants. It was the first place my parents let me go unescorted. Sometimes
I took my younger brother along. I always took my camera. This is the moment
that the five hundred visitors who have seated themselves on the egg-shaped
IBM exhibit’s “People Wall” realize that they are being swallowed up by the egg.
