The Repat. Report will provide updates and general information about what’s happening at the Heidelberg
Repatriation Hospital and other general information that members may find of interest and useful. So, to start of
perhaps a little history to remind us all of how the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital came to be.

The Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital has a proud history of caring for Veterans and War Widows. Originally built
in 1941, the hospital became part of Austin Health in 1995. Today the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital continues
to treat Veterans and War Widows and provides services to the wider community including, day surgery,
palliative care, mental health services, aged care, and outpatient services such as radiotherapy, nuclear
medicine, radiation oncology and radiology.

Vietnam Veterans Day at the Repat:
Planning is proceeding to unveil a plaque for Coral-Balmoral for the 50 Anniversary. The plaque will be located
th
at Coral-Balmoral Building, near the entry door to Ward 17. This will enable all who work or are cared for the
facility to know the history of Coral-Balmoral. In addition, to be unveiled and located at the building will be a
plaque for Partners of Veterans. This service will be held on Friday 17 August commencing at 10.30am in the
Acacia Room, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital.

Colour Patch Museum:
Following the receipt of a grant from the Victorian Veterans Council, work will soon be proceeding for the
renovation of space for the Colour Patch Museum. This renovated facility will be in the Duckboard Function
Centre. Fundraising is continuing to meet the needs of this project.

Armistice Remembrance Banners:
This project involves three large mosaic banners to be located on the North Wing Building facing the
Remembrance Garden. The mosaics include Indigenous Soldiers, Nurses WWI and Nurses WWII. The plan is to
unveil these mosaics at the Remembrance Day to be held on Friday 9 November.
