To Save or Not to Save...
Where should I save my work?
• All documents should be saved either in the
regularly backed up drive IT may have set up for
your location.
• OneDrive - personal online storage linked to
your DelawareNorth.com email address
• SharePoint site – also linked to your
DelawareNorth.com email address and a great
place to safely save all collaborative pieces of
work.
The Thinker by Auguste Rodin. Losing documents was stressful even in 1904
Where can I find OneDrive or SharePoint?
Click here and you can log into Office 365. You can
also enter ‘Office 365’ into your search engine. If
you have an IT team on site, you can ask them about
setting up OneDrive on your computer, so you are
able to save files easier.
Why shouldn’t I save work on my computer or
laptop?
Saving in one place is always risky and if that place
happens to be a device that can be damaged or
stolen. ALL YOUR WORK WILL BE LOST. Hours of
typing and editing down the drain. The IT team does
not want that for you.
Phillipa saved her work to her laptop. One day, it stopped working. Her work wasn’t
backed up. Don’t be like Phillipa.
What if I back up my work on a USB or external
hard drive?
At Delaware North any form of external storage
is currently being phased out and will be banned
within the next few weeks. So keep and eye on your
emails.
What if I need my external hard drive?
To keep your work and personal information safe
while using external storage you must only use an
encrypted storage device. This is to avoid a stranger
gaining access to your confidential files.
If you have any further questions regarding the use
of external devices, please contact your IT team.
Phased rollout in November, only on Delaware
North Computers.
