To Whom It May Concern:
As you know, the Town of Paradise has been through significant turmoil since November 2018. The residents
and community have progressed toward establishing “new normals” but have a tremendous task ahead before
achieving full recovery. Despite the trials associated with surviving the Camp Fire, the ridge is my home, and my
husband and I are dedicated to recovering with it. With businesses opening and residents rebuilding, there is a
noticeable sense of hope in the air.
Working for the Town of Paradise would be an honor I would wear proudly, and I am ready and capable of
putting in time and becoming fully immersed in the daily demands of the position. I have reviewed the 2018/19
and 2019/20 budgets and the 2018 audited financial reports on the Town of Paradise website and have listened
to several months of Town Council meetings online. The more I research, the more excited I get about the
opportunity to lead the finance team and collaborate with all departments to develop realistic, manageable
budgets and maintain accurate, functional reports. The position of Administrative Services Director/Town
Treasurer is a career opportunity that would incorporate my education, work experience and overall life values
in a challenging and rewarding way. I know this position would provide the professional growth and personal
satisfaction I am looking for.
I decided to pursue higher education at Humboldt State University to increase my knowledge in sustainable
business practices and apply them to my daily life and workplace routines. I hope to incorporate sustainability
into any job I hold because it is such a critical component of successful businesses, nature, and society.
Incorporating sustainable practices into current strategies develops the best framework for ensuring our survival
and prosperity.
I like my current position at Sierra Pacific Industries and admire many aspects of the company. However,
advancement would likely involve relocation, and I hope instead to remain in this community. I would look
forward to creating new relationships with the Town of Paradise staff and contributing to the recovery process
this town is capable of. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to help the resilient Town of Paradise recover
and grow into the future.
Thank you for your time,
Cory Busher
