Dear Vallejo Sanitation and Flood Control District,

I would like to express my interest in the Director of Administrative Services position with your
District.

With over 20 years of legislative and business experience, I bring a unique perspective of the
inner workings of the Legislative and Executive branches, as well as a background in business
and non-profit organizations.

As a communications director and a chief of staff, I have a variety of skills that make me well-
suited as a team member and leader. In addition, I have private-sector expertise, first as the
general manager of my families’ small business, then as the small and international business
manager at the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce.

As a Chief of Staff for over seven years in the State Assembly, Senate and then Congress, the job
requires respectful, articulate confidence to communicate with members of the Legislature,
agency directors, industry leaders, local leaders, stakeholders and constituents.

Utilizing a multitude of communication tools, diplomacy, political know-how, and of course
one-on-one contact, I have been successful and persuasive by being prepared and determined.
