I am writing to you in regards to the position of Director of Youth, Parks, & Community
Enrichment for the City of Sacramento. The scope of the position combined with Sacramento’s
mission struck me as an ideal career opportunity. The City’s commitment to its residents mirrors my
own passion to empower communities to become more involved in their neighborhoods through
leisure activities, economic development, and capital improvement. I believe I am the perfect

the requirements of a dedicated Director of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment.
With more than 19 years of municipal experience in cities both large and small, I have
accumulated a wealth of knowledge and expertise and have used my executive posts to fine tune my
management skills. In addition to my municipal experience, I have been fortunate to have worked
in non-profit and private sectors specializing in community programs and corporate teambuilding.
My resume provides a comprehensive summary of my accomplishments and responsibilities.
Throughout my career I have refined my skills in budget preparation, grants, capital improvement
projects, strategic planning, marketing, and city council presentations and reports; just to name a
few. With well-rounded experience in finance, facility management, contract negotiations, and
community engagement; I know I possess the skills needed to provide the City of Sacramento the
additional leadership it deserves.
Coming from a park and recreation background, I believe that leisure activities serve as
unique vehicles for community vitality and improving residents’ quality of life. Parks, events, and
“place making” are the life blood of any city as they encourage tourism, welcome new businesses,
and stimulate the local and regional economies. In addition to Parks operations, I have authored
municipal codes and ordinances, managed multi-million dollar CIPs, directed all personnel actions
within my department, and reviewed entitlement applications for new development. I would
