ABOUT THE POSITION
The Safety Manager supervises and and and and coordinates the the the activities and and and and operations of the the the City’s environmental health health and and and and and safety safety programs programs within the the the Human Resources Department including occupational health health and and and and and safety safety safety and and and and and and facilities environmental environmental compliance compliance programs programs designed to to to ensure environmental environmental regulatory compliance compliance and and and and and and prevent occupational injury and and and and and and illness and and and and and and damage to to to property They coordinate safety safety activities with other divisions departments outside agencies and and and and and and the the the the general public and and and and and and provide highly responsible and and and and complex staff staff assistance to the the the the Risk Manager Manager The Safety Safety Manager Manager leads the the the the City’s Executive Safety Committee and and supervises two staff staff members directly Some duties for this position include:
» » Developing and administering training classes to City staff » » » Reviewing accident reports and and making recommendations to to improve work practices
» » » Developing inspection programs to identify hazards
» » Representing the the the City to to to regulatory and and inspection inspection agencies such as Cal/OSHA and and the the the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) among others
» » Administer the the Department of Transportation Drug and Alcohol Testing Program
» » Create and and and interpret reports analyze data and and and conduct specialized projects as as assigned by the the Risk Manager
