“The Nerd”
Mark Byrd didn’t know the sound heard from the sheep herd. As a matter of fact
he couldn’t spell a single word.
He didn’t know that milk has wheys and curd. He couldn’t even tell a plane form a
bird, nor first base from third.
Con•se•quent•ly, his classmates would call him “The Nerd.” And now, today, Byrd is
a farmhand picking up turd.

Now just because he was a serf
His highness the king called him “ scurf ”
Which was wrong
For all day long
He fished the seas riding the surf
Or plowed the fields tilling the turf.
