Fraught with Trickiness
The teacher said, “ Class, I am ready to teach, if you are ready to be
taught.
“ We ought to start with ' ought,' usually spelled ought, but sometimes
aught. Likewise, ' nought,' meaning nothing, may be spelled nought or
naught.
“ Never say catched for caught. Never say buyed for bought, nor
brung for brought, nor fighted for fought. However, you may say
either worked or wrought.
“ Now, class, is it thinked or thought? Is goodness seeked or sought?
And with a “ gh” is a rope held taught?

There ’s always applause,
For Santa Claus,
