        Story 165

                                           It Wasn‛t a Cinch

The fans thought the game would be a cinch.

But time was now running out and they began to yell, "Lynch the

               quarterback . . . lynch the quarterback . . . lynch the quarterback . . . ." This
made the quarterback flinch. What a pinch he was in!

In desperation he winged a pass that flew like a finch that was caught
                                                                                            1
inbounds by scarcely an inch. Thus victory and the championship their team

               would clinch.

                                    1. A small bird.

               On A Binge

When the drunkard finally came home from a drunken binge,

he ripped the front door right off its hinge. Then he
tripped on the rug's fringe and hit his head and began to

twinge. Upon his face came a ghostly tinge, and upon his
               wife's face came a dis•gust•ing cringe.
