A Lovers‛ Tryst
Dad gave to Sis a long list stating why he must insist that her love affair
should not exist.
Still Sis tried to twist father's wrist, but every time father would resist,
sometimes even pounding his fist.
Yet the lovers would not desist, and began to se•cret•ly tryst.
Story 176
Pig On a Spit
About midnight the pig was fit on the spit and placed over the charcoal pit. So
that it wouldn’t burn, a close watch had to be kept on it.
At noon the next day girls came wearing sweaters - mostly knits - and dresses
with slits. They were es•cort•ed by boys who brought bats, balls, and mitts to
shag flies and take some hits.
At two o'clock watermelons were split and seeds spit. Next
the pig was removed from the pit, then eaten for hours to the
last bit just as the sun was about to quit.
