The Red Well-Read Reader

        Story 99

                                                   Brett's All Wet

"Don't fret, Claudette," said Brett. "My pretty brunette pet, there's

nothing to sweat, for there's not any threat. I know we're entangled in a financial

net, beset by creditors. But somehow, some way, someone will help us

        get out of debt.

"Then, when all our bills have been met and we are securely set, I'll let you

buy anything and everything: perhaps a Corvette, or even a personal jet. So,

        dear, let your dreams whet."

Claudette responded, "The only thing that is wet is you, Brett. And Brett,

you are all wet, soaking wet !"

        Story 100

                                      Make a Good Catch

If you were a bucket, spring water you'd fetch

If you were an arrow, feathers you'd fletch

If you were a river, a canyon you'd etch

If you were a pen, a drawing you'd sketch

If you were rubber, greatly you'd s-t-r-e-t-c-h

But since you’re merely you —

Make a good catch, and marry no wretch.
