Meet your fellow franchisees
We would like to introduce you to Vijay (Shankar) Sivashankar &
Gowri Sivashankar who are currently owning three centres, UCMAS
Scarborough @ Bellamy and Ellesmere (12 years), UCMAS Scarborough
@ Kennedy and Finch (8 years) and UCMAS Scarborough @ Morningside
and Sheppard (7 months).
Shankar is a Bachelor of Mathematics and Computer Science (Waterloo
– Canada) currently working as a Software Engineering Project Manager – IBM Canada.
Shankar and Gowri are blessed with wonderful children - Seeron Sivashankar (10 yrs), Aeiron Si-
vashankar (6 yrs) and Ahanvi Sivashankar (5 years). All 3 are students at Brookside Public School –
Toronto.
Their main purpose for joining UCMAS Franchise Network is to serve young children in educational
field as Shankar’s university major is Math and he was particularly interested in teaching mental
math. They are both very satisfied with this program.
What they like most about the program is that UCMAS is a skill development program. Unlike most
other educational programs that are school curriculum based, UCMAS promotes fundamental math
skills. Similar to dancing and swimming, once a student masters in UCMAS s/he retains and can
utilize the skill for ever. Contrary to belief that this a just a math program, the program actually
assists in developing a child’s brain and make the student a well-rounded person in school. There is
nothing that they dislike about this program, though they feel that it would help if some word
problems can be incorporated into the program which would attract many students.
Shankar is assisted in the operation by his wife Gowri and center managers lead by Rasi Sivaruban
and Sujatha Vimalan. They currently have 20 CI’s.
They would like to mention that Head office has been very help-
ful in my centers reaching this success. Canadian head office
has understood the cultural and geographic differences in Can-
ada from other countries and introduced many improvements
that helped the quality of teaching. Head office has always
been prompt in responding to our needs and I am thankful to
the management and staff.
Their message to Fellow Franchisees is to believe in the prog-
ram and concept and aim to become the best performer. Take care of your students and that will
take of your business.
A final comment from Shankar : I am glad to be one of the pioneer members of UCMAS in Canada.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to introduce myself.
