Brand Programs
The Brand Programs team is responsible for working with Applebee’s to support new product
development, testing, promotions, and menu changes. It starts with the new product development
process and ends with the implementation of promotions or menu changes. For new product
development, our Brand Programs team works with the Applebee’s Marketing and Culinary groups
to identify and leverage the appropriate suppliers in the item development process.
When promotions or new menu changes are implemented, our team then works to ensure
continuity of supply to support these initiatives.
The Brand Programs team supported twelve tests, seven promotions, and four new menu
conversions, encompassing 95 new items throughout 2015. For every menu or promotional event
supported, a detailed scorecard is completed measuring our performance and identifying areas
for improvement. These scorecards are reviewed with the Apple Co-op Board of Directors. The key
attributes measured are:
• Timely Forecast – Forecast delivered to CSCS complete and on time
• Timely Authorization of Inventory Purchase (AIP) – AIP signed by all approvers
• Forecast Integrity – Absolute value variance of weighted average sales versus forecast
• Product Availability – Products available for start-up and throughout promotional period
• Obsolescence / Cost – Dollar impact to Members and Brand
In 2015, we continued to make improvements with how we manage product availability for our
Members to ensure continuity of supply as reflected in a cumulative “Exceeds Expectations”
rating as tracked by our promotion scorecard. We continue to evaluate our internal controls and
processes to mitigate outages and obsolete inventory.
