Semi-Annual Meeting
On November 15th, we hosted our Fall Semi-Annual meeting. For each meeting we
choose a theme; this time we went with Employee Wellness. Wellness is a topic we’ve
been emphasizing this year; we’ve been working to improve our practices across the
board. In 2016 we introduce more Wellness and Quality of Life programs for residents
and also stress the importance of wellness for our Managers and their staff. It is our
hope that in 2017 we will be able to continue these improvements for the health and
betterment of our residents and staff.
FOOD At our meeting, we had a fun and activity-packed day to learn more about topics such
for Thought as: positively reinforcing our staff, new Pinnacle programs and incentives, and
different ways to take care of our mind, body and spirit.
In the morning our Director of Operations, Roel Lopez, spoke about some projects
he’s passionate about, Infused water and Decentralization, both of which are
programs aimed at making the resident’s feel more at home and while providing
healthy benefits. We enjoyed some infused water varieties ourselves throughout the
day using the same recipes we offer in our facilities. Our Corporate Executive Chef,
Andrew Merklinger, served up a healthy new recipe of Quick Baked Pears and Frozen
Yogurt that was not only quick but also easy, and sure to become a Resident favorite.
After lunch, we turned our direction to focus on how we can be healthier and manage
our stress as Managers, while also learning techniques we can pass on to our Staff.
Many of our Directors of Dining Services and Dietitians have outside hobbies and
activities they do to keep themselves fit, physically and mentally. We asked a few to
share with us their strategies and to give us guided demonstrations. Our group is
filled with people with diverse talents and passions. By coming together, we all
learned more about Zumba and Yoga for our physical wellness, Skincare, and
Aromatherapy and Meditation for our mind, body, and spirit.
As caretakers, it is important to find the time to take care of ourselves so that we can
better take care of our residents and coworkers. We look forward to continuing to
better our healthy endeavors in this New Year and hope you’ll also take some time
to learn about our new Corporate
Wellness Program as information
becomes available.
Here’s to a happy, healthy and
prosperous 2017. We look forward
to working with you for many years
to come. ◘
